Scott Jones
Scott Jones was seriously injured when he was in a head-on collision with a van which pulled
out of a junction in front of his Kawasaki ZX9R.
“My knee and my elbow took the brunt of the accident, and, as I also suffered broken ribs and
a punctured lung, I woke up in intensive care. Thankfully, my injuries healed up quickly enough but
I was left with a couple of screws in my knee and metalwork in my elbow, which has since been
removed.”
Scott’s insurance company appointed a solicitor to pursue his case for compensation but he
was not happy with how the case progressed. “Every time I called to find out what was happening, I
was told it was a waiting game,” recalls Scott. “I began to feel that I was being a nuisance and
when I mentioned this to two friends whose opinion I really value, they suggested I contact Digby
Brown.”
Scott listened to his friend’s advice and changed solicitors and, although it still took some
time before his case came to court, he was extremely happy with the service he received at Digby
Brown. “The team at Digby Brown were so professional and were very thorough in their
investigations,” said Scott. “And they understood about motorbikes, which made me feel a lot better
as they seemed to know where I was coming from.
“In fact, it was a pleasure to work with Digby Brown, especially Brenda Mitchell, who made me
feel very positive about the possible outcome of my case. From the word go, Brenda was confident
that, as I was in the right, I should be compensated.”
When Scott’s case came to court, he was awarded £180,000 compensation. “That was a lot more
than I expected and will make a big difference to me, especially as Digby Brown sent me to a lot of
medical specialists who all agreed that I will only be able to continue in my present job for
another ten years before the injuries I sustained in the crash will mean I will really struggle to
do my job.
“I’m definitely glad I went to Digby Brown and would recommend others in a similar situation
to do the same.”
