Patrick Brogan
It was lunchtime on a sunny day in September 2002 when Patrick decided to take his bike out
for a run. Having taken two or three corners, he was on a straight. The last thing he remembers is
seeing a people carrier coming towards him on his side of the road.
His injuries were multiple including two breaks to his back, a broken right hand and arm, six
fractures to his pelvis and two broken knees. Unsurprisingly his list of injuries kept him in
hospital for over two months.
Patrick had a legal expense policy, which gave him access to legal representation in the case
of an accident. Unfortunately, his insurance company assigned his case to solicitors who were most
used to dealing with the buying and selling of property, not dealing with serious road accidents.
Patrick explains: “I was led a merry dance. I was so frustrated because they just weren’t
doing anything. They couldn’t answer my simplest questions and I just had the feeling they didn’t
know what they were doing. I asked my insurance company to assign my case to another firm, but they
refused.”
A friend of Patrick’s, recommended that Patrick speak with Digby Brown. He explained how
Digby Brown have specialists to deal with bike accidents and that they also have a dedicated
emergency number for bikers when they have an accident.
Patrick continues, “I called them and the very next day they sent someone to talk with me.
They felt they could do something with the case, so I handed it to them. I’m not exaggerating when
I say that within days they had taken the case much further than my previous solicitors had in all
the previous months.”
Digby Brown managed to settle Patrick’s case for £100,000.
Patrick comments, “I only wish Digby Brown had handled my case from the beginning. They are
so professional and know the law inside out. The settlement allows me to shape up my life again. I
had a lot of time off work recovering and wasn’t physically or mentally fit to go back for some
time. The settlement helps to bring me back to a more stable position in life.”
