Robert Swanney is a litigation partner with Digby Brown Solicitors. He has over 30 years’
experience in pursuer’s personal injury claims. He has a special interest in head and spinal injury
cases.
Robert was a founding trustee of the Head Injuries Trust for Scotland and gave of his time as a
legal counsellor in its voluntary counselling service. He was latterly Chairman. Robert
presently provides a legal counselling service for Spinal Injuries Scotland. Robert is an
active speaker to Headway National Brain Injury Association groups and to other similar groups
throughout Scotland. Robert has written Headway's publication, 'Claiming compensation after Head
Injury in Scotland'.
He is accredited by the Law Society of Scotland as a specialist in personal injury law, is a
member of the Association of Personal Injury Lawyers and of the Association of Trial Lawyers of
America as well as the Pan European Organisation of Personal Injuries Lawyers.
Robert has been involved in catastrophic injury cases not only in Scotland but also in other
European countries, and in Canada and the United States, achieving many compensation awards in
excess of £1 million for individual clients. In the last 12 months alone, Robert has been
responsible for recovering over £12 million in damages for clients with head or spinal injury.
Chambers and Partners UK Guide 2007 has him as Ranked No1 for personal injury (claimant)
and describes Robert as a "big hitter". He will give you a run for your money because "he knows
what he is doing," say opponents.

Laura joined Digby Brown in1998 as trainee solicitor, having graduated from
University of Strathclyde in1994 and qualified as a solicitor in 2000.
Laura works in the Catastrophic Injury department of the Glasgow office and specialises in spinal cord injury; traumatic brain injury; child brain injury; road traffic accidents and industrial accidents. She also deals with the accident claim referrals from Messrs Leigh Day & Co, agents for the British Cycling Federation & British Triathlon Association, on behalf of their Scottish cycling members. Laura is a member of the Association of Personal Injury Lawyers (APIL) and is also a volunteer legal counsellor for Spinal Injuries Scotland.
