Ruth Bertram graduated from the University of Edinburgh in 1988 with a degree in Scots Law and was awarded the Post-Graduate Diploma in Legal Practice the following year.  She joined Digby Brown in 1990 and has been a litigation partner in the Edinburgh office since 1997. She has extensive experience of personal injury actions in the Court of Session and Sheriff Courts. She is the Head of the firm's Industrial Disease Department with particular interest in claims involving exposure to asbestos. She is also the firm's Client Relations Manager.

Ruth is accredited by the Law Society of Scotland as a Specialist in Personal Injury Law. She is a Senior Litigator member of the Association of Personal Injury Lawyers (APIL) and a member of the Society of Solicitors in the Supreme Courts (SSC). She is a former member of the Council of the Law Society of Scotland and still sits on one of the Society's Committees.
