Brake - the road safety charity
Brake – the road safety charity exists for a simple reason - because every 30 seconds someone, somewhere in the world, is killed in a road crash. The charity campaigns strongly on issues which would help reduce the misery of road deaths and injuries.

Digby Brown Solicitors is a corporate sponsor of Brake, in Scotland, as well as sponsoring the Brake helpline number which is for anyone who has been bereaved or seriously injured in a crash or their carers, whether the crash happened recently or a long time ago.
The helpline has four key goals: Emotional support, information and advocacy, a lawyer for you and counselling and support groups. For more information on any of these issues visit the brake website by clicking here.
The Brake helpline can be reached by calling 0845 603 8570 or by emailing helpline@brake.org.uk
Obviously, Digby Brown’s role in the helpline is to bring to bear our legal expertise on whether a claim for compensation can be made. However, our years of experience does allow us some insight beyond just the financial loss incurred and also help, if required, address a whole host of issues which either a serious injury of loss of a loved one will inevitably present. This experience is not gained overnight, the Partners in Digby Brown collectively have had to deal with numerous tragic cases as a result of the carnage which takes place on our roads.
Helping Brake campaign
Partly as a result of our first hand experience of these types of road incidents and their consequences, Digby Brown actively helps to campaign on a number of issues in which Brake is involved. Fraser Simpson, Partner and head of the Union department in Digby Brown Solicitors is the Scottish spokesperson for Brake and regularly comments on their behalf. Campaigns which we are currently supporting include addressing the issue of young drivers driving at night, insurance of under 25s and more comprehensive support for the victims of serious or fatal crashes.
