Slip on stairs proved to be negligence by cleaners
This client suffered injury after slipping on the stairs of the communal close where she lived in Glasgow. She had slipped shortly after cleaning contractors had mopped the close, leaving hazardous levels of surface water on the stairs. The pursuer sustained soft tissue injuries to her leg and elbow. Liability was denied but a few days before the case was due to go to a hearing, the defenders settled the case for £3300. Cases such as this involving slips and trips can often be difficult to prove but this case shows that with careful investigation and preparation, defenders can often be persuaded to settle.
