Accident at work - metal sheet falls from roof, causes severe shoulder injury

Mr S, a former client following a motorcycle accident, returned to Digby Brown Solicitors after suffering an injury to his shoulder in an accident at work.

Mr S was a self-employed, sub-contracted specialist welder.
He was welding inside at a construction site when a large and heavy metal sheet which was suspended above him fell from the roof landing on his shoulder.

It had not been secured in place properly and was left hanging by one clamp.

He sustained a fracture to his left clavicle and also nerve damage. He has never been able to return to welding and instead had to take up a position teaching welding at Dundee College before finding alternative employment in Australia
