Digby Brown announce appointment of Fraser Oliver as Chief Executive

Digby Brown LLP have today (Wednesday 28th August) announced that Fraser Oliver will become its Chief Executive.

Mr Oliver assumes his new role as part of a reorganisation of Digby Brown’s management structure. The reorganisation will take effect immediately.

As Chief Executive, Mr Oliver will undertake the management functions and responsibilities previously vested in an Executive Board. He will be supported by the firm’s senior management team.

Brian Castle, previously a member of the firm’s Executive Board, takes over as head of Digby Brown’s Insurance Litigation Department, with Sue Grant, also previously an Executive Board member, continuing to develop the firm’s Clinical Negligence practice.

Speaking as part of today’s announcement, Mr Oliver said;

Digby Brown are Scotland’s largest personal injury practice, with the firm also leading in the areas of employment and clinical negligence law. The firm, who now number over 200 people, have offices in Dundee, Edinburgh, Glasgow, Inverness and Kirkcaldy.

Digby Brown are leading legal and public policy debate on a range of issues around access to justice in Scotland and the UK. These include UK Government proposals to limit compensation awards to those suffering brain or spinal injuries and the implications of the Enterprise and Regulatory Reform Act, which comes into force on October 1st 2013, on workplace health and safety protections. The firm recently won a landmark case in the Court of Session on an employers’ responsibility to assess the dangers facing employees working outside in dangerous or wintry conditions and take practicable measures to reduce these.
