Aimee Doran, trainee solicitor at Digby Brown, speaks about why Law Fairs are so valuable

"As someone who is not long out of the recruitment process, law fairs have become all too familiar to me over the years. The biggest benefit is that you get the opportunity to speak with real people, ask questions and get answers there and then.

You can peruse through countless firm websites and know them inside out, but you never get to speak with anyone. Law Fairs are a safer and less frightening way of presenting yourself to a firm and getting invaluable information about the firm and their recruitment processes and requirements.

It really helps to speak with those who already have a training contact in a more casual environment and discuss different aspects of the firm. The law fair environment gives a better representation of what a firm is really like to work for as you can see the type of people who work there.

It helps to meet people that you think you would see yourself working with, or like to work with in the future. We can discuss things that may not be so obvious on the website like some of the great charity work we do internally as a firm for our charity of the year, our continued professional development.

When you visit a law fair not only do you see the type of person who works there and can discuss different aspects of the firm, it helps students to base their decision about which firm to apply to. Deciding where you would like to apply to can be a daunting process, and picking the right place is key. Therefore law fairs are critical in ruling out the who's who, and the 'I definitely won't!'

Overall and simply put, recruiting fresh talent is obviously pivotal for us to continue the growth and success of the firm centred around excellent client care."
