Digby Brown Solicitors have been named the number one Small and Medium sized Enterprise (SME) in Scotland.

The award winners were chosen from the top 300 leading SME companies listed in Business Insider last autumn.

Fraser Oliver, Digby Brown Partner and Chief Executive, received the award on behalf of the firm. He highlighted Digby Brown’s work to adapt to changes in the Scottish legal market and develop the business infrastructure needed to successfully represent thousands of people a year across Scotland.

Fraser Oliver said:

“The legal marketplace in Scotland has changed, both in terms of how law firms generate business and the avenues open to clients seeking to access to justice.
Our continued success has been built on adapting to meet the new legal marketplace, maintaining a constant focus on our client’s experience with us and having the strength in depth and capability to achieve the best results on their behalf.

“We give our clients an affordable way to obtain access to justice using our Compensate funding scheme. Our funding model underpins our work and protects our clients from financial risk as a result of seeking our help after an accident.

“This award is recognition of the work which has been done at every level of Digby Brown to build a successful, sustainable and client-focused personal injury and employment law practice.  It is the latest milestone in the ongoing development of our business and one which is the result of a real team effort by everyone in the firm.

“External recognition and awards such as this are nice, but perhaps the best measure of our success are the reviews from our clients which rate us as 9.5 out of 10 in terms of our performance. That is due to the hard work our people do day in, day out on behalf of our clients.”

Highlights over the last year across Digby Brown have included:

• Winning the Community Contribution award at the 2014 Scottish Legal Awards in March 2014

• Opening an office in Aberdeen, the firm’s sixth across Scotland, headed by well known Aberdeen lawyer Lisa Gregory, in May 2014

• Achieving Gold level accreditation with Investors in People in July 2014

• Becoming the first Scottish law firm to be accredited as a Living Wage employer in December 2014

• Remaining the only Scottish firm top ranked for Personal Injury (pursuer) work by both the leading independent guides to the UK legal profession, Chambers and Legal 500.
