Supporting Special Olympians in 2015

Winning gold medal

Digby Brown Partner Chris Stewart, head of our Serious Injury Department, visited Abercorn Secondary School today (Tuesday 13th November) to give our support to six pupils , past and present, from the school who have been selected to compete in the World Special Olympics in Los Angeles in 2015.

Abercorn, which is situated in the Cowcaddens area of Glasgow, is educational establishment which supports young people with additional support needs, a number of whom have acquired brain injuries.

The school have pupils from a variety of social backgrounds and the school plays an invaluable role in helping them raise funds to take part in events such as the World Special Olympics. Unlike the Paralympics, these games are not funded by Government or other bodies, so each athlete has to raise funds to cover the costs of competing.

Chris (left in photos above and below) was delighted to present a cheque for £500 in support of the pupils and school’s fantastic fund-raising efforts.

We wish everyone involved the very best for the games in Los Angeles next year and look forward to cheering them onto the success!
