Our client had an accident at work when he was 64 years old and suffered an injury to his knee and then suffered a subsequent deep vein thrombosis (DVT). He was unable to return to work and was medically retired.

“I went to my local solicitor but they recommended that I go to Digby Brown for help. Someone at work also recommended them so I decided to get in touch.”

Our Dundee team raised a claim on his behalf and his employer's admitted liability. They then made him an initial offer of £20,000.

Our client was happy to accept this offer but our specialist personal injury solicitor Jennifer Watson explained it would have been his intention to work until he was 70 years old so this didn’t truly compensate him for his future losses.

“I thought the first offer was brilliant as I expected about half of that but Jennifer pointed out I wanted to retire at 70 so this wasn’t a fair settlement. Thereafter, it was phenomenal.”

Instead, the client rejected the offer and our solicitors raised a court action. This was all funded using Digby Brown’s no win no fee funding model, compensate.

In the end, the case settled for £120,000 -  six times more than the original offer.

“I didn’t expect anything like that, it was an unbelievable outcome. Jennifer did a cracking job, it couldn’t have been any better and I couldn’t fault it at all – everything was brilliant.”
