Andrew benefits from expert injury lawyers

Road Traffic Accident Upset Man

Andrew Williamson, from Glenrothes in Fife, was injured after being involved in a road traffic accident.

He approached Digby Brown Solicitors for help as he felt the compensation offer his claims company in Glasgow, whom he was referred to by his own car insurers, managed to obtain was not an appropriate settlement that fairly reflected the injuries he had suffered and the effect they had on his life.

How did the road traffic accident happen?

Andrew was involved in a road traffic accident when he was travelling with his son and father-in-law along the A92 in Fife between Cowdenbeath and Lochgelly.

Due to roadworks going on at the time, he had to slow down for queuing traffic.

He did so safely but the car behind failed to stop and collided into the rear of his car, pushing Andrew’s car forward so he hit the car in front, and causing a series of collisions between vehicles.

The impact was big enough to cause the airbags in the car to deploy.

Thankfully, everyone was wearing their seat belts.

Injuries from road accident

When Andrew went to the hospital, he discovered that the crash had caused a soft tissue injury to his cervical spine and to his left forearm.

As a result of his injuries, he was off work for three weeks. Although Andrew was fully paid when he was off work due to the accident, this had to be fully repaid to his employer.

He had trouble sleeping and felt fatigued most of the time. He was also unable to drive, help out around the house, help his mother, or play 5 a side football as he would do normally. Instead he had to rely on his partner during this time.

Andrew’s car was written off in the accident which meant he had the inconvenience of buying a new car and make all of the necessary arrangements.

Claims handling company under-settling claim

Digby Brown’s Kirkcaldy office accepted Andrew’s case as his previous solicitors were recommending he accepted an offer without obtaining medical evidence.

However, they could not know whether the offer was reasonable for his injuries. They also advised that the sick pay which was to be re-paid to his employer would be deducted from the figure being offered.

When Andrew came to Digby Brown, all aspects of his case were properly investigated to ensure a fair settlement was achieved. We also arranged physiotherapy for Andrew and he made a full recovery from his injuries.

Rightful compensation with Digby Brown

The insurance company were not forthcoming with any reasonable offers of compensation which resulted in Andrew’s case being progressed to court. Shortly after this, an offer was received from the insurers and happily accepted by Andrew.

This offer was more than 6 times the initial offer obtained by Andrew’s previous solicitors.

Andrew says: “I switched to Digby Brown Solicitors as I was dissatisfied with my previous solicitor.

"All I wanted was my case to be dealt with in a professional manner. From my very first meeting with the Digby Brown representative, I felt confident and assured that they would do everything in their power to achieve a satisfactory outcome to my case.

"Through the whole process I was kept up to date with the progress and recently my claim was finalised and I was awarded compensation which I was more than happy with.

"I would have no doubts in recommending Digby Brown to anyone.”
