Aberdeen and Inverness Solicitors take on the Marathon for charity

Digby Brown staff run Loch Ness Marathon

TWO solicitors from Digby Brown raised an incredible £1,000 for local Scottish charities after they conquered the Baxters Loch Ness Marathon.

Jordan McCarter and Sam Cowie from Digby Brown’s Aberdeen and Inverness offices completed the gruelling challenge on Sunday 24 September after months of training

The pair joined runners from across the country for the annual event which starts just outside Fort Augustus and winds its way along the banks of Loch Ness before finishing in Inverness.

The money raised will be shared between Cash for Kids who help disadvantaged children in the North East and Crocus Group who support bereaved children in Inverness.

Sam Cowie, Associate personal injury solicitor at Digby Brown Inverness, said: “This was my first marathon and the furthest I ever travelled on foot in one day.

“I wasn’t really looking forward to it to be honest but the Crocus Group is a charity that has some personal relevance to me.

“My dad lost his mum to an illness when he was a young child and her death had a profound effect on him and the rest of his immediate family.

“Any sponsorship money received will be donated to the Crocus Group to support the fantastically valuable work they do to help bereaved children.”

Each year Digby Brown’s seven offices select a local charity to support in addition to the firm's nationwide fundraising efforts.

This year, the Aberdeen office nominated Cash for Kids as their charity of choice and the Inverness office were keen to support the Crocus Group for a second year.

Jordon McCarter, personal injury Solicitor at Digby Brown’s Aberdeen office, said: “It was a tough day but it went well – we both finished the race at least!

“The scenery along the route was fantastic which made the run a little bit more pleasant. I’m ecstatic with how much we raised for Cash for Kids – thanks to everyone for their sponsorship.”
