Caledonian Crushers put Digby Brown to the test

Caledonian Crushers receiving cheque 2018

Digby Brown are proud supporters and sponsors of the Caledonian Crushers, Scotland’s only wheelchair rugby club.

This inspirational club began in 2011 with the goal to get more people in Scotland involved with wheelchair rugby. The club made their debut in the British Wheelchair Rugby League in 2012/13 and have gone from strength to strength ever since.

Earlier this week, members of Digby Brown joined Caledonian Crushers at their training session at Tollcross International Swimming Centre. Our staff were definitely put through their paces, as the video clearly shows below.

This was combined with a cheque presentation for £2,500 to mark our continued sponsoring and support for the Caledonian Crushers. We very much look forward to cheering the team throughout the upcoming year.

Paul Black, Head Coach at Caledonian Crushers, said: "The players and support staff at the Caledonian Crushers are really appreciative of the continuing support from Digby Brown to allow us to run our club which enhances the wellbeing of individuals with life changing illnesses and disabilities.

"We will use the funds to enable our weekly training sessions to be held at Tollcross Sports Centre each week. We will also use it to cover accommodation costs when we travel to tournaments as we are the only wheelchair rugby team in Scotland we need to travel to England to take part in the British league."

Kirsten Smith, Corporate Social Responsibility Manager at Digby Brown, said: The Caledonian Crushers are an inspirational group of athletes who put us through our paces and introduced us to a sport that is hard work but more importantly a lot of fun.

“It is a real pleasure to continue our support for the Caledonian Crushers Wheelchair Rugby Team and see the camaraderie they offer wheelchair users seeking a bit of an adrenaline rush.”
