Digby Brown walk marathon to support Asbestos Action

As part of Global Asbestos Awareness week, solicitors from Digby Brown’s Industrial Disease team will be walking 26 miles along the Fife Coastal path on Friday 6th April to raise funds for Asbestos Action as well as awareness for asbestos related disease.

The team from Digby Brown includes Fraser Simpson Head of Digby Brown’s Industrial Disease team, Euan Love, Nick Dochnenko, Mark Nicholson, Gary Ross, Caitlyn Maccabe, Siobhan Mortimer and Nadia Pearson. The team will be also be joined by Dianne Foster from Asbestos Action.

They plan to walk from Leven, along the Fife Coastal path and finish up in Rosyth dockyard, passing many places they come across in their day to day work including Burntisland Shipyard and Alcan Plant. The team hope that as well as raising funds that their walk will raise awareness of the support and advice provided by Asbestos Action to sufferers of asbestos related conditions and their families.

Asbestos Action

Asbestos Action support those who have been diagnosed with an asbestos related illness and are working towards ensuring that there is a local service available to support these individuals no matter where they are in Scotland.

Each year the number of people seeking support after being told they have an asbestos related disease rises. The charity anticipate that 2018 will have the highest number of asbestos victims seeking assistance since the charity began in 2002.

John Fearn, Manager from Asbestos Action, said, “As part of this year’s Asbestos Awareness Week  we are delighted that Digby Brown will be doing a sponsored marathon walk along the Fife coast on Friday  6th of April.  We are even more pleased that our very own Dianne will be walking the 26 mile route with them.

“Asbestos Action relies on the donations and fundraising of others to continue the vital work we do to support victims of asbestos related disease as well as their families. This walk will help fund this work.”
