Legal action against Thomas Cook after child abducted on holiday

Woman looking out to sea

Digby Brown Solicitors is helping a mother pursue a civil claim against Thomas Cook after her daughter was abducted from a hotel in Turkey.

Janet Alexander approached Digby Brown for help after Rose, aged five, was led away by an unknown individual from the supervised crèche at the Royal Wings Hotel in Antalya.

Thankfully, Rose was found that same day but the incident left Ms Alexander suffering extreme anxiety and post-traumatic stress.

Simon Richards, Associate with our Foreign & Travel department, is now pursuing a claim against the tour operator.

He said: “Janet and her loved ones understandably feel traumatised by this incident.

“Thankfully Rose was safely reunited with her family but her abduction had a very serious and lasting detrimental impact.

“The Royal Wings Hotel breached its contractual duties by failing to look after children in its play area but Thomas Cook are ultimately responsible as it is the company who sold the holiday.

“Child safety – whether at home or abroad – is something that cannot be ignored or pushed aside and it’s important that situations like this are highlighted because they also help improve standards.”
