Proud to support the only cerebral palsy conference in Scotland

Last Thursday saw Bobath Scotland hold their fifth Cerebral Palsy Scotland Conference and Exhibition, an event we are proud to sponsor and support.

This is the only event of its kind in Scotland although cerebral palsy (CP) is the most common cause of childhood disability and is a lifelong condition. Bobath Scotland supports people living with cerebral palsy across the country, including providing specialist therapy services.

This year’s conference was held on Thursday 4th October at Hampden Park in Glasgow, ahead of World Cerebral Palsy Day which took place shortly after on Saturday 6th October.

The principal aim of this day is to bring together the cerebral palsy community in Scotland including anyone who has experience of CP either directly through family or professionally.

With speakers and exhibitors from across the UK to share their knowledge and experience of cerebral palsy, it’s a great opportunity to share stories, discover more about the condition and talk about some of the key issues as well as finding services that are in place to help.

We welcomed Louise White, broadcaster and friend of Bobath Scotland to chair the conference and manage the panel discussion at the end of the event.

Exhibitors at the event included Child Brain Injury Trust, Crathie Holidays, Paragon, Neuro Physio Scotland and Self Directed Support all of which were on hand to offer information about the support and help available.

Throughout the day, people were able to choose from a range of informative breakout sessions on personal, medical and employment issues.

Ruth Kelliher, Digby Brown Partner and accredited specialist in Clinical Negligence, welcomed attendees at the start of the Conference. Ross Milvenan, Associate in the Employment team, was one of the legal experts who spoke about “disability rights in education and employment” at one of the various breakout sessions held throughout the day.
