Bedroom ceiling collapsed causing concussion to client in rented flat

Man looking out to sea

Mr H. contacted Digby Brown following an accident at his rented accommodation. Due to water damage that occurred when the previous tenant was occupying the property, Mr H. had his bedroom ceiling collapse on top of him resulting in soft tissue injuries and concussion.

Mr H's landlord was pursued via litigation but denied liability on the basis that he had no duty to inspect the property regularly, and that such a problem with the ceiling could never have been foreseen.

This case was fought strongly by Digby Brown via litigation and eventually a number of offers were made to settle the case.

From an initial offer of £3,000 the case eventually settled at £6,000.
