Joanne is a Senior Solicitor based in the Non-Accidental Injury team in our Edinburgh Office, having joined Digby Brown in 2022.
With a particular interest in helping those involved in historic abuse cases, she has experience helping clients with claims against local authorities, religious organisations and private schools, as well as employer liability claims for assaults at work and other criminal injury claims.
Joanne graduated from the University of Strathclyde in 2019 with a Graduate Entry LLB and from the University of Edinburgh in 2020 with a Diploma in Professional Legal Practice.
She completed her legal traineeship in 2022 at a commercial firm specialising in high-value litigation and dispute resolution. Joanne has offered practical advice and support in relation to domestic abuse and forced marriage for a national helpline.
Joanne was employed in higher education before retraining in law. She volunteered with free legal advice clinics throughout her studies and worked part-time supporting victims of domestic abuse. She represented defendants in complex litigation before focusing on pursuer personal injury law with an aim to support and advocate for victims of crime.
She is a Notary Public and a member of the Pain Disorder practice group.
