He sustained a serious crushing injury to his ankle when a large pipe was propelled across the deck as a result of his fellow employee’s negligence.

He required to undergo two operations and he now has arthritis in his ankle. As a result of his injuries, he is unable to work offshore.

The defenders denied liability for the work accident.

Digby Brown investigate work accident claim for compensation

Digby Brown's personal injury solicitors collected numerous expert reports as well as both senior and junior counsel to investigate the impact of the work injuries.

The client will have to undergo an ankle fusion operation within the next 10 years, which will have an impact on his ability to work in the future.

He also sustained extensive loss of pension rights, loss of employability and loss of future earnings.

Our solicitors also challenged the discount rate applied to future loss claims in order to maximise our client's compensation.

After robust negotiations, the case settled for £400,000, 3 weeks before the case was proceeding to the Diet of Proof.

What did the client think of Digby Brown?

The client said: “I am delighted with the outcome of the case and wish to thank you for your professionalism throughout the last 2 years.”
