About Digby Brown's Edinburgh office

Welcome to our office in Scotland’s capital city.

We’re based a short 20 min walk away from Waverley station. We have limited parking spaces for guests who can request a spot in advance and lots of buses also stop about 100m away round the corner on Newington Road A701.

But ultimately… it’s Edinburgh, so it’s pretty easy to get about.

Digby Brown has had an office here for as long as we can remember. The reason for this is that back in the day, a law firm was required to have an Edinburgh address if they wanted to be able to lodge paperwork in the Court of Session – the highest court in Scotland.

Who works here?

We now operate out of our southside office with around 60 staff who have a particular focus on:

That doesn’t mean to say that Digby Brown Edinburgh only handles these kinds of cases – we have legal staff to help people with any kind of claim.

Also in our Edinburgh office is our Parliament House team. This small and specialised group of people is responsible for making sure everything our solicitors do counts.

They make sure that:

  • Court processes are followed
  • Legal papers are accounted for
  • Compiling case files
  • Gathering paperwork from other courts in support of Digby Brown’s work

If it wasn’t for the Parliament House team the entire firm would grind to a halt very quickly indeed!

How experienced are the Edinburgh staff?

There has been occasions where the expertise of our Edinburgh staff was relied on by people affected by very traumatic issues.

Gordon Dalyell helped an innocent Scot recover a six-figure settlement in a miscarriages of justice claim after he was wrongly arrested by Police Scotland. It is this level of expertise which led to Gordon holding the post of President of the Association of Personal Injury Lawyers (APIL).

Chambers & Partners acknowledge the expertise and results of our staff. For the last 16 years it has ranked the firm as Band 1 for personal injury work in the Glasgow, Edinburgh and surrounds region.

What do Edinburgh staff do when they’re not doing legal stuff?

Our staff in Edinburgh are making dedicated fundraising efforts for their 2023 charity partner - The Yard – an organisation that supports disabled children and young people aged 0-25 through adventure play.

Every year the firm hosts the Head Injury Information Day – an annual event that brings together brain injury survivors and healthcare practitioners to share knowledge and support. In addition to the event in Glasgow there is also another event in Edinburgh which helps those who cannot travel. The last Edinburgh event, which was hosted at the Grosvenor Hotel in Haymarket, welcomed more than 300 people.

We also work alongside road safety stakeholders to educate the city’s school pupils (S4 and older) on road safety at The Edinburgh Young Drivers event. Our solicitors host a ‘mock court’ of a post-crash trial. Pupils hear facts from the case, the victims and are asked to give judgements. The aim of this is to help teens understand far-reaching consequences of careless or dangerous actions before they ever get behind the wheel themselves.
