Children across Scotland make magical memories at inclusive Circus Starr shows

Child at the circus

For more than 35 years Circus Starr has been holding accessible circus shows to give vulnerable and disabled children the chance to enjoy live arts in a relaxed and inclusive setting.

We were thrilled to offer free tickets to local charities in Edinburgh, Dundee and Glasgow to attend this year's 'Winter Circus' shows including:

  • Cerebral Palsy Scotland
  • BRAE Riding for the Disabled
  • NICU Ninewells Hospital
  • The Cottage Family Centre
  • Whiteley's Retreat
  • Child Brain Injury Trust
  • Finding your Feet
  • Stepping Stones

The show featured acrobats, clowns, roller skaters and more – with children being encouraged to get involved by shouting out and moving to the music.

For parents and families, the performances offer the opportunity to take their children along to something that they would have previously not considered an option.

Finding Your Feet who support people with limb loss arranged for families to attend the Glasgow performance. 'Trooper' Tony who was able to take his granddaughter, Lucy, to the show with the tickets said:

"A great big Thank You to Digby Brown for the Circus Starr tickets. The smiles never stopped all night."

Lee Haston, Business Support Assistant from The Cottage Family Centre, said they had great feedback from the families that attended the Edinburgh show:

"The families gave big thanks for the tickets and advise us that they had a fantastic time and that their children loved every minute of the show."

Fundraising Director, Michelle Crossley, from Circus Starr said:

“We are so grateful for the fantastic support we have received from Digby Brown.

“Thanks to their generosity we are able to share our magical show with vulnerable and disadvantaged children in Scotland! We are so proud to bring accessible arts to those who may usually miss out, and we couldn’t do it without the kindness of community-driven businesses like Digby Brown.”

Flora Bannerman, CSR Manager at Digby Brown, said:

“It’s a real honour to get involved with this project for a sixth year.

“Supporting disadvantaged children is something that matters to Digby Brown and we’re delighted to be able to get behind worthwhile projects like Circus Starr.”
