Lee Murray completes River Ayr Way Ultra Marathon for local charity

Lee Murray once again pushed himself to take on a huge challenge to raise funds for the Ayr office charity partner of the year.

On Saturday 13th September, Lee took on a tough endurance test - the River Ayr Way Race Ultra Marathon.

This event challenged Lee to run the entire length of the River Ayr. Not only does the route cover more than 40 miles, but it also features an elevation gain of 2,625 feet and winds through different trails - testing both stamina and determination.

Lee’s efforts were in aid of Megan’s Space based in Ayrshire which provides mental health and emotional well-being support to young people up to the age of 25. This charity was established in memory of Megan Copeland and aims to prevent suicide and reduce self-harm while promoting resilience and overall well-being.

Lee has raised £635 for the charity (so far) which will be doubled by the firm bringing the total raised to £1,270!

Reflecting on the day, Lee said: “The run went really well, with fantastic organisation and amazing volunteer support – not to mention the moral support. Despite pain setting in around mile 35 in my knees and hips, running for Megan’s Space kept me going.

"I just thought of the extra counselling sessions and knowing I was helping to make a difference in young people's lives. I even managed a sprint(ish) finish and to shave 7 minutes off last years time, coming in at 7 hours 37 minutes.”
