Digby Brown staff raise more than £2,000 for local charity with Ben Nevis climb
A four-strong team from our Ayr office recently climbed Ben Nevis to raise funds for their local charity partner, Megan’s Space.
For some members of the team this was their second time taking on the highest mountain in the UK and while the weather was kinder this time around, that meant battling a few midges on the 8km hike to the summit.
Lee Murray, Partner in our Ayr office, said: “We had a fantastic day! The highlight of the climb was around the halfway point when the clouds suddenly cleared to reveal the mountain ridge and a waterfall across from us.
“The walk was definitely a challenge but we got through it - all for a great cause.”
Lee, Gareth, Natalie and David successfully reached the top of the mountain, stopping for a well-deserved picnic before descending and completing the 17km round trip.
Natalie Smith, Solicitor, spoke about her motivation to complete the climb saying: “Since Megan’s Space became our local charity partner we have been privileged to see the life-changing impact the charity has on the mental wellbeing of young people. That is what pushed us to the top of the mountain.
“It was a big challenge, but knowing we were raising money for such an important cause made every painful step worth it.”
Megan’s Space aims to prevent the loss of young lives to suicide and reduce self-harm whilst promoting mental wellbeing among children and young people.
The team raised a fantastic £1,155 which was matched by the firm – creating a grand total of £2,310 which will go to Megan’s Space.
Lee Murray concluded: “Raising funds for such an amazing charity helps push you on, especially at a time where waiting lists for mental health services for young people continue to grow. The services the charity provide are genuinely lifesaving.”
Well done, team Ayr!
