Digby Brown staff take on bumper fundraising weekend for causes that matter

The first weekend of September saw colleagues from our Dundee, Edinburgh and Glasgow offices take on adventurous charity challenges.

From scaling an iconic landmark to battling through a muddy obstacle course, staff gave it their all to raise vital funds for Scottish charities.

The Discovery Mast Climb

On 5 September a team of four Digby Brown colleagues took part in the Discovery Mast Climb in Dundee to raise money for Age Scotland - the national charity which provides friendship services and vital information on care, housing and benefits to over-50s.

One by one Chris McFeat, Chris Ritchie and Zoe Scott from our Dundee office and Felicity Clifford from our Edinburgh office bravely scaled the 82-foot mast of Captain Scott’s famous Antarctic ship before ziplining more than 40 metres down to the waterfront.

They said: “Our communities matter to everyone at Digby Brown and the work Age Scotland does supporting older people and the challenges they face is really important.

“To be given the opportunity to climb the mast of the iconic RRS Discovery while helping Age Scotland raise funds for their vital services was incredibly special and it’s an experience we’ll definitely remember.”

The team raised a fantastic £385 which was matched by the firm - creating a grand total of £770 which will go to Age Scotland.

The Rainbow Obstacle Run

The day after the mast climb on 6 September a seven-strong team from our Glasgow office tackled an action-packed assault course at Wild Cairns in North Berwick to raise money for their local charity partner, Richmond’s Hope.

Along with more than 120 other Rainbow Runners taking part on the day, the team completed a 5 kilometre run all while navigating muddy terrain and obstacles like Scotland’s longest inflatable slide.

The rainbow element you ask? We’ll let David McGowan, Partner in our General Litigation team, explain: “What a great day with such a fun atmosphere! The run and obstacles were challenging but we faced them head on and ended the day looking a little more colourful than we started with all the paint that was thrown along the way.

“It was worth it because no child should have to face grief on their own, which is why it matters to support charities like Richmond's Hope who help young people navigate loss, build resilience and find hope for the future.”

Richmond’s Hope supports young people aged four to eighteen who have been bereaved by offering a safe space for children to work through their grief, understand the impact the bereavement has had on their lives and develop healthy coping strategies.

The team raised £620 which was matched by the firm meaning a fantastic £1,240 will go to the charity.
