Three children have paid tribute to their parents after the driver who caused the fatal crash was jailed.

Sophie Hynd drove into husband and wife Satwant Singh and Jatinder Kaur’s car on the B981 near Cluny in Fife on the 19th of December 2025.

Tragically Jatinder died at the scene of the collision and Satwant died two days later in hospital.

Today at the High Court in Edinburgh Sophie Hynd was sentenced to six years in jail and was disqualified from driving for ten years.

She previously pleaded guilty to causing the couple’s death by driving dangerously.

Following Hynd’s jailing Jatinder and Satwant’s children remembered their parents.

They said: “We could never have prepared for losing our parents in this way.

“Mum was always there for us, whether we needed her advice, reassurance or someone to talk to, she always made things better.

“She was incredibly funny, kind and loved by so many people and always made time for anyone who needed her.

“Nothing was ever too much trouble for Dad, he loved Mum and us more than anything.

“He was our role model and taught us the importance of working hard and looking after the people we love.

“It’s incredibly difficult to accept they won’t be there to share the important milestones in our lives.

“We will miss them more than words can express, but we’ll carry their love and everything they taught us for the rest of our lives.

“We ask for privacy as we continue to grieve and come to terms with this devastating loss.”

The family continue to be supported by Ryan Smith, Partner in Digby Brown’s Kirkcaldy office.

The sentencing was reported in national media including Sky News, The Herald and The Courier.
