Dundee office host charity pub quiz for mental health

Wellbeing Works with Digby Brown Dundee staff at charity quiz

Our Digby Brown Dundee office have been keeping very busy over the past couple of months raising money for local mental health charity, Wellbeing Works.

From hosting a Party in the Park, complete with bouncy castles and a delicious BBQ, to competing in various rounds of a nationwide corporate football tournament, they’ve been determined to gather as many donations as possible for their 2019 charity partner.

Last Thursday, the staff continued their fundraising streak by hosting a quiz night at The Fort Bar. The venue quickly filled as teams made their way to their tables, preparing themselves for the array of entertaining questions our quiz masters had in store for them.

Teams consisted of three to five members, with each player paying £5 for their ticket. All of the money raised from ticket sales was donated to Wellbeing Works, and a raffle was also held throughout the evening to raise further funds.

The brainy bunch who made up the winning team each scored themselves a bottle of prosecco for their impressive display of general knowledge. Runners up and raffle winners also took home a selection of great prizes, including chocolates and even more fizz!

The quiz raised a total of £410, with funds matched by Digby Brown, which will be donated to Wellbeing Works.

Wellbeing works is a Dundee based mental health charity who promotes better wellbeing for those facing mental health challenges. The charity help those struggling by encouraging them to connect with others through various activities, such as walking and gardening groups, and to learn new skills like playing the guitar or learning to knit. For more than 50 years, the charity has been helping the people of Dundee to stay active, sociable, and mindful in the face of mental health challenges.

Wendy Callander, spokesperson for the charity, expressed her gratitude for our office's fundraising efforts:

"We really appreciate the effort that the staff from Digby Brown are putting into raising fund for Wellbeing Works. I know it sounds cliched, but every penny makes a difference.

"We have just done a re-fresh on our games room, and the money raised from the quiz night will go towards some new pool cues, and a rack to keep them in, and a dart board. These types of activities are really important in helping us to engage, particularly with men, who maybe don't say too much but are able to connect with others and build a bit of confidence by having a game of pool or darts.

"This puts structure in their week, give them something to get up for, and something to look forward to - and it re-kindles a wee bit of competitive spirit!"

Digby Brown Dundee will continue to raise money for Wellbeing Works for the rest of the year. The next event will be the Business Fives National Final, where our office will try their shot at scoring a huge cash prize for Wellbeing Works.
