Kirkcaldy staff raise more than £4,000 for local charity with Edinburgh Marathon Relay
On Sunday 24 May a four-strong team from our Kirkcaldy office took part in the Edinburgh Marathon Festival (EMF) with the aim of fundraising for their local charity partner, LoveOliver.
Participating in the challenge known as the EMF Hairy Haggis Team Relay Ryan Smith, Fruzsina Korosi, Claire Thomson and Sophie Davison split the 26.2-mile run between them.
With the encouragement of the crowd – much needed on what transpired to be one of the hottest days of the year so far – the team completed the relay in 5 hours 9 minutes and 9 seconds.
Ryan Smith, Partner and Head of the Kirkcaldy office, said: “It was amazing to run the Hairy Haggis Relay with the team in support of such a fantastic charity. It was a very hot day and I’m especially proud of the team for completing the race in such difficult conditions.
“We have raised a great amount for the charity, which I'm sure will put the funds to great use in supporting those affected by childhood cancer.”
Sophie Davison, Accredited Paralegal, added: “It was great fun and all for an amazing charity. The atmosphere and support of those who turned up to cheer everyone on definitely kept us motivated to keep pushing!
“Finishing the relay in the time we did felt incredible, especially in the heat”.
Thanks to their determination, the team raised a fantastic £2,050 which, when matched by the firm, means £4,100 will go directly to the charity.
LoveOliver is dedicated to improving the quality of life for children diagnosed with cancer as well as their families. They help fund the development of new treatments through research as well as assisting families through the provision of appropriate financial and practical support.
Well done to everyone involved in this challenge!
