New Associate level promotions at Digby Brown

Digby Brown promotions 2017

Digby Brown Solicitors announced two new Associates level promotions across its Edinburgh and Glasgow offices to mark the end of a successful 2017.

Both Fern Mapp and Elaine Smith were promoted earlier this month after they joined the personal injury firm seven years ago.

Fern first worked alongside the Industrial Disease Department during her time as a trainee but after qualifying moved to the Foreign and Travel Department in Edinburgh where she proved instrumental in securing justice for 16 Clutha victims and the family of the tragic Isle of Bute air crash.

Elaine has worked with Digby Brown’s Insurance Litigation Department in Glasgow from her Traineeship to present. She has established herself as a crucial, well-respected member of the team.

Their new posts rounded off a plethora of new promotions with 23 other fee earners across four departments being promoted to Senior Solicitor.

Digby Brown Chief Executive Fraser Oliver congratulated Fern and Elaine on their new positions.

He said: “Since qualifying Fern has flourished in Foreign and Travel and made significant contributions to the successes of the firm through her selfless and hardworking nature.

“She is trusted and valued and throws herself into her work without complaint while displaying superb knowledge of the law.

“Elaine has an excellent understanding of personal injury work and the legal market and at the same time, is very commercially aware with a good understanding of what is required to make the team more profitable and contributes ideas to assist in this regard.

“Our clients expect us to have breadth as well as depth of expertise and to be leaders in everything we do.

“Giving our people the opportunity to develop themselves and their careers is central to achieving that.

“I am delighted to announce this set of promotions and look forward to working with these colleagues in their new roles.”
