Queen Elizabeth National Spinal Injuries Unit launches innovative app for spinal injury patients

We were delighted to support last week's launch event for the groundbreaking Queen Elizabeth National Spinal Injuries Unit App by NHS Greater Glasgow and Clyde.
The pioneering new digital support service has been designed to help people living with spinal injuries by providing easy access to vital information about the unit.
No matter the cause of the injury the app offers clear, supportive information about the rehabilitation journey.

Developed with patients, carers and families at its core, the app acts as a comprehensive guide to the National Spinal Injuries Unit based at the Queen Elizabeth University Hospital in Glasgow. Patients and carers using the app can find what to expect during their time at the unit, details of services and therapies available as well as introductions to the team members providing care.
The app’s launch was celebrated with a special gathering at the unit bringing together patients, families, staff and partner groups.

Chris Stewart, Partner and Head of Digby Brown’s Serious Injury team said: “We’re truly proud to support the Queen Elizabeth National Spinal Injuries Unit with the launch of its new app.
This brilliant tool brings the entire 150-page Spinal Manual - usually given to patients and their families - into one easy-to-use, accessible place.
We work with spinal cord injury survivors every day, so we know just how life-changing these injuries can be.
That’s exactly why having a resource like this really matters - for patients, their loved ones, and the staff who care for them.”
Digby Brown is proud to support the dedicated staff and charity teams at the Queen Elizabeth National Spinal Injuries Unit to provide a range of activities for both patients and their families.
In collaboration with Spinal Injuries Scotland, Horatio’s Garden, Back Up and Wheelpower, we help facilitate a variety of engaging events including Spinal Injuries Scotland’s social nights, Horatio’s Garden’s tea and cake afternoons and Back Up’s wheelchair skills workshops.
In 2024, we were proud to support Wheelpower’s first-ever Wheelchair Festival in Scotland, providing individuals with the opportunity to explore accessible sports and try new activities.
We also host the annual Summer BBQs and Activities Day at Castle Semple, welcoming over 150 individuals with spinal cord injuries for a day full of fun and meaningful activities.
A huge congratulations to everyone involved in creating such a valuable tool for those with spinal injuries.
