After 10 years in Glenrothes, Innes and his colleagues took the decision to move offices from Glenrothes to an office in the heart of Kirkcaldy close to Kirkcaldy Sheriff Court.

Innes deals with all types of personal injury claims including road traffic accidents, industrial/workplace accidents, fatal accidents, and general accidents in the Court of Session and Sheriff Court. He is an experienced Sheriff Court practitioner and has undertaken a number of Proofs throughout his career.

Innes is a well-known personal injury lawyer in Fife, Edinburgh, the Lothians and Tayside, and regularly receives referrals from local solicitors through the Digby Brown Recover network. He regularly contributes to Kirkcaldy Law Faculty CPD conferences which take place annually by giving seminars on personal injury law to other lawyers in the faculty.

Over a varied and interesting career Innes has developed a specialism and expertise in handling claims for the relatives of loved ones who have suffered fatal injuries, be it in road traffic accidents, workplace accidents or even accidents in public places such as hotels, pubs or care homes.

In 2023, Innes was the lead instructing solicitor in the highly publicised case of Katrina Johnstone or Ronald & others -v- Perth & Kinross Council, the first Court of Session case in Scotland to proceed to a Civil Trial in front of a Jury for some seven years. Innes was instructed by the widow and three daughters of a former RAF airman who suffered fatal injuries when he was hit by a council bin lorry whilst cycling on a country road. In this case, Innes was only instructed by the lead pursuer a few months before the three year anniversary timebar of the fatal accident, after a previous firm of solicitors had declined to pursue the case further. After hearing all the evidence the jury found on a majority verdict in favour of the pursuers and they were awarded sums totalling in the region of £750,000.

Innes is an experienced, diligent and compassionate solicitor who is willing to go the extra mile for his clients in the pursuit of justice and redress for clients who have suffered significant trauma due to the negligence of others.
