Rona graduated from the University of Dundee in 2009, attaining her Diploma in Legal Practice from the University of Dundee in 2010. Rona also spent a year studying at Universiteit Leiden in the Netherlands, deepening her understanding of European legal systems.
Rona joined Digby Brown in 2011 and qualified as a Solicitor in 2013 before becoming Partner in 2025. She spent over 2 years in our Glasgow office as a personal injury solicitor before transferring to the Digby Brown Edinburgh office in 2014.
She is currently based in our Foreign and Travel Department and deals with a wide variety of accident abroad claims involving Scottish people in foreign countries. She has experience of dealing with all types of accidents, including:
- road traffic accidents abroad
- workplace accidents abroad
- general holiday accidents,
- package holiday claims
- aviation accidents,
- accidents on sea-going vessels
- offshore accidents.
Rona also acts for foreign nationals injured in Scotland helping them understand their rights under Scottish law while coordinating with legal teams in their home country where needed.
Rona was the lead solicitor in the internationally significant case Colin Mather v EasyJet Airline Company Ltd & DRK Hamburg Mediservice gGmbH, where the Inner House of the Court of Session clarified an important point of aviation law to help determine when an airline is responsible for the actions of personnel assisting passengers. This judgement strengthened protections for passengers with disabilities or reduced mobility and has shaped how similar cases are approached.
Rona is known for her compassionate, practical guidance. She understands how overwhelming an injury abroad or in a foreign country can feel and is committed to making the legal process as smooth and supportive as possible.
Rona has experience in both the Sheriff Court and Court of Session. She is a Notary Public and is a member of the Association of Personal Injury Lawyers (APIL) and the Pan-European Organisation of Personal Injury Lawyers (PEOPIL). In 2023 Rona was elected to the PEOPIL New Lawyers Group Board - helping to grow the community of PEOPIL's new generation of personal injury lawyers across Europe. Rona is also a Law Society of Scotland accredited specialist in Personal Injury.
Rona is a former tutor of Delict at the University of Edinburgh.
