Colleagues from Digby Brown’s Aberdeen office have been busy this October raising money for their local charity partner, Charlie House.

From running 26.2 miles to hosting a race night, staff pulled out all the stops to support the charity which works to improve the quality of life of children and young people in the north-east of Scotland.

Kimberley’s Marathon Challenge

First up on Sunday 18 October Kimberley MacLennan, Associate, laced up her trainers ready to take on the Amsterdam Marathon.

Her fiancé, mum and two colleagues cheered her on through the scenic route which started and finished in front of the grandstand in the Olympic Stadium.

Despite becoming unwell in the week leading up to the marathon and battling through torrential rain on race day Kimberley showed incredible determination and successfully crossed the finish line in 4 hours and 30 minutes.

She said: “There was a bit of a question mark in my mind if I would be able to run the marathon - but the encouragement from the crowd on the day, the generosity of everyone who donated and knowing that the funds raised would make a real difference to the children supported by Charlie House got me through it.”

Kimberley raised a fantastic £1,376 which was matched by the firm bringing her fundraising total to an incredible £2,752.

Race Night Fundraiser

Four days later and back on home soil Kimberley joined the rest of the team from our Aberdeen office at a lively race night where 50 guests gathered to support Charlie House.

John Brebner, Chief Executive Officer of the charity, kindly attended and shared information about the important work the charity does and why the money raised matters to families across the north-east of the country.

As well as several rounds of horse racing the night boasted various fundraising activities like a lucky square draw, a pick-and-mix sweet bar and a raffle with fantastic prizes to be won including a £150 Slaters voucher, two £50 vouchers for The Tilted Wig bar and a blow dry voucher for Linton & Mac.

Neil Davidson, Partner in our Aberdeen office, said: “The race night was a huge success and we were delighted to see such fantastic support for Charlie House.

“We are proud to raise money and awareness for a charity which carries out enormously important work. A huge thank you goes to everyone who supported and contributed to the event.”

The night brought in an incredible £3,000 which was matched by the firm meaning a grand total of £8,752 was raised across both events for Charlie House.

Well done, team Aberdeen!
