Asbestos lawyers raise £50,000 after ‘Castle to Kelpies’ walking challenge
Our Industrial Disease team set out on their annual charity walk on Wednesday 1 April marking not only the first day of Global Asbestos Awareness Week but also the 10th year the team has taken on a fundraising challenge to support asbestos charities.
This year, the team chose to take on a mammoth 20-mile trek from Stirling Castle to The Kelpies to raise funds for Clydebank Asbestos Group and Asbestos Action.
Starting at 9am, the 12-strong team set off from sunny Stirling with spirits high.
As they racked up the miles they were battered by high winds and heavy rain in typical Scottish fashion, but persevered making their way through Denny to Falkirk.
On last year’s walk in the west, Rachel Gallagher, Strategy and Development Manager at Clydebank Asbestos Group, walked part of the way with the team.
This year it was the turn of Dianne Foster, General Manager at Asbestos Action, who covered 7.5 miles to show her support.
After a gruelling eight hours, the team successfully completed their challenge reaching the finish line at The Kelpies.
The Industrial Disease team has worked closely with these vital charities for many years and know how much their support means to those suffering from asbestos-related diseases and their families.
The team raised a fantastic £4,110 which will be matched by the firm, meaning that in the 10-year history of their fundraising efforts they have raised more than £50,000 to support asbestos sufferers.
Euan Love, Partner and Head of the Industrial Disease team, said: “I’m really proud of the team for taking on yet another demanding walk and bringing our total raised over the last decade to a staggering £50,000.
"We see first-hand the difference these funds make to Clydebank Asbestos Group and Asbestos Action and the incredible work they do to provide practical support to people and families living with asbestos-related disease.
"We’re very grateful to everyone who donated and helped us mark Global Asbestos Awareness Week in a positive way.”
Well done to everyone who organised, took part in and donated to this challenge - we know just how much it matters.
