Digby Brown is continuing to attract talented and experienced solicitors with two new Partners joining their personal injury departments.

Hannah Bennett is joining the firm as a Partner in the Serious Injury team, with Craig Smillie promoted to Partner in Network two years after he joined the firm.

Hannah spent 20 years with Thompsons Solicitors where she worked on high-profile cases including the Clutha Helicopter tragedy in 2013.

She will lead the new Digby Brown Dumfries office which is due to open in 2026.

She said: “My career has always centred around supporting people who have been involved in life changing accidents, and that’s what drew me to Digby Brown.

“The firm’s commitment to use knowledge to recover full and proper compensation that will support injured people is well known.

“The charitable nature of Digby Brown also offers really exciting opportunities to get involved in good causes across the community in Dumfries.

“I’m looking forward to using my legal expertise and additional training in supporting people who have gone through traumatic events to continue making a difference to people in Scotland.”

After joining Digby Brown in 2023 following a successful career at Thompsons, Craig Smillie has been promoted to Partner in our Network department after showing continuous dedication to making a difference.

Craig said: “What I have enjoyed the most about my time with Digby Brown is the variety of the different cases and the training opportunities the firm offers.

“It has been a whirlwind two years since joining the firm and I’m looking forward to taking on this new role and continuing to help more people who have been injured in an accident that wasn’t their fault.”

Our Chief Executive, Fraser Oliver, said: “To attract two highly experienced solicitors to the Digby Brown team shows our commitment to help people by ensuring they have the best legal representation in Scotland.

“Since joining Digby Brown two years ago Craig has been committed to delivering the best outcomes for clients with compassion and professionalism – his promotion to Partner in our Network department is well deserved.

“I’m particularly pleased Hannah will be leading the team in Dumfries when our new office opens next year.

“Her dedication to people and delivering excellence will help Digby Brown improve access to justice in the south of Scotland.

“Getting great results for clients is what we do. We need the best personal injury lawyers in Scotland to achieve this, and Hannah and Craig’s appointments add to our strength in depth.”
