Digby Brown Edinburgh take on Marathon for Fresh Start

Marathon runners in aid of FreshStart

Digby Brown Edinburgh nominated Fresh Start as their local charity partner for 2017 and the Edinburgh Marathon is just one event they have in their calendars to raise money for the charity.

Fresh Start was originally set up to help homeless people get set up in their new homes but this has extended into other areas such as helping people find jobs and cooking courses.

Our staff visited their warehouse and the charity to gain a better understanding of everything they did and it was very impressive – the warehouse was filled with crockery, bedding, food – everything you need to get started in a new house.

The runners from our Edinburgh office took part in the 5k, 10k, half and full marathon depending on their experience, fitness level and sheer determination!

  • 5k - Mark Nicholson, Industrial Disease Solicitor & Lyndsey Gardner, Digital Marketing Executive
  • 10k - Simon Richards, Foreign & Travel Solicitor & Donald Mackay, Trainee Solicitor
  • Half Marathon - Kim Catterall and Carrie-Anne Mackenzie, Personal Injury Solicitors
  • Full Marathon - Edward Ferguson, Trainee Solicitor

The Friday (26th May) before the race also seen the office raise funds to support runners through a bake sale and guess the baby competition!

Digby Brown Edinburgh office: “We had 7 staff taking part in the Edinburgh Marathon and for some, this was their first time running at an event like this. The atmosphere on the day was outstanding though and really urged everyone on.

“Having now met with Fresh Start and seeing the fantastic work they do to help the homeless, we are over the moon to say we have raised over £1,100 so far – with donations still coming in.”
