Catriona Headley qualified as a solicitor in 2009 and joined Digby Brown the same year after graduating with an LLB (honours) from the University of Glasgow in 2006 and completed the diploma in legal practice at the Glasgow Graduate School of Law the following year.
She is a Partner in the Network Department in our Edinburgh office. She specialises in complex personal injury cases involving road traffic accidents, accidents at work and general accident claims in the Court of Session and Sheriff Court.
She has represented many families secure compensation following the death of a loved one in road traffic accidents and has extensive experience of advocacy in the Sheriff Court and litigation in the Court of Session.
She has a reputation for a creative and tenacious approach to problem solving in litigation and securing excellent results for her clients, such as when she secured £30,000 for a bride whose wedding was ruined after a slip on mouldy hot tub decking left her with a broken ankle.
She is a member of the firm’s senior practice group on Chronic Pain Disorders having gained specialist expertise in over a decade of assisting clients who develop pain or functional disorders following accidents and working with world leading medico-legal experts in this field.
Catriona represented a pedestrian who had been blamed by the taxi driver, however, she managed to secure a settlement that the client was happy with, who said "Catriona came across completely professionally and she took care of everything"
Catriona is a skilled negotiator and with a track record of results including securing 13 times the first offer for a runner who was hit by a driver.
Catriona was a Trustee of SAMH, Scotland's leading mental health charity, from 2016 – 2022, and was President of the Scottish Young Lawyers’ Association from 2010-2012. She is also a member of the Association of Personal Injury Lawyers (APIL).
She is an experienced broadcaster and commentator, appearing on STV, BBC and several podcasts. In her free time she enjoys photography, cooking and cold water swimming.
