Digby Brown supports Global's Make Some Noise

For the third year in a row, we were the proud sponsors of Heart Scotland's challenge for Global's Make Some Noise. We know how much it matters to charities across Scotland to have the support from Global's Make Some Noise, helping those who need it most.

Heart's Half Marathon Heroes

This year, it was the turn of Des Clarke to take on a challenge once again and raise vital funds for local charities across Scotland. Along with 70 Heart Scotland listeners, Des took on the AJ Bell Great Scottish Run, running 13.1 miles through the streets of Glasgow for Global’s Make Some Noise.

The runners had been building up to race day together as part of an incredible training journey, before putting their hard work to the test on a drizzly day in October.

It wasn’t just Des and the Heart listeners taking on the challenge. Twelve members of the Digby Brown team also joined them on the start line, helping to raise money for local charities that provide vital support to local communities across Scotland.

Grado's Granite to Glasgow - Handcycle challenge

Following Des’s Great Walk to Glasgow last year, this year it was Grado’s turn. He cycled over 400km from Aberdeen to Glasgow but not in any conventional way - with his hands!

Over five demanding days he travelled up to 100km a day starting in Aberdeen and heading down Scotland’s east coast, through Fife and Edinburgh, before crossing the central belt to finish at Heart HQ in Glasgow on Friday morning.

Grado didn't tackle the route alone. He had the company and encouragement of members of Spinal Injuries Scotland, a charity supported by Global’s Make Some Noise. Digby Brown has worked closely with this charity for many years and knows just how much their support means to people with a spinal injury.

Des’s Great Walk to Glasgow

As the proud sponsors of Des’s Great walk to Glasgow in 2024, we were right behind him every step of the way!

From the start to the finish line, we were with Des as he strapped on his hiking boots and walked an incredible 52 miles from Fife to Glasgow.

Des bravely walked from North Queensferry across the Forth Road Bridge and continued through the night despite some typical Scottish weather to make it all the way to Glasgow in just under 24 hours.

We even managed to join him for part of the walk to support him alongside some of the charities that Make Some Noise has supported over the years. Over the last 10 years, they have helped to change the lives of over 200,000 people across the UK.

It matters to us

We might say it a lot but it truly does matter to us.

This is why we wanted to get involved and help raise awareness for local charities in Scotland. We know just how significant this funding can be for these small charities.

With a focus on helping local charities, Make Some Noise provides essential support and services to those who need it most. Any money raised will go right back into local charities in Scotland.

Fraser Oliver, CEO of Digby Brown spoke with Des before his Great Walk in 2024 to discuss just how important supporting local charities is.
